5 ACUPRESSURE POINTS THAT CAN HELP MIGRAINES AND HEADACHES

Migraines and headaches can be so debilitating! And can truly affect a person’s quality of life. The consequences are not only physical but emotional. Many miss days from school or work, and even when they don’t have a migraine, they limit their activities to prevent another episode. Can you relate to that?

Many pharmaceutical treatments are used to treat migraines but have many unwanted side effects. Acupuncture has been proven effective in treating and preventing migraines and headaches; it is safe and has minimal or no side effects. Even better, it has long-lasting effects. If you have not tried it yet, I suggest you do it. But in the meantime, acupressure is very effective and can be done at home using only your hands and fingers. It’s that easy!

Simply massage each acupressure point with your fingertips for a minute or two on both sides of the body when you feel you will get a headache or migraine. It can be done as many times in the day as you need to. Don’t forget to take deep and slow breaths while doing it. Breathing is so powerful!

Here are five acupressure points that can help to relieve migraines and headaches:

1. Yin tang

This point is one of my favorites. In my practice, I used it in almost all of my patients. It is located on the forehead in between your eyebrows. Great for allergies, nose congestion, and anxiety as well.

2. UB-2 (Urinary bladder-2)

Located at the medial end of the eyebrows. Also used for eye problems.

3. GB-20 (Gallbladder-20)

Located in the posterior part of the neck, below the skull, lateral to the tendons of the trapezius muscle.

Wildly used for neck pain, allergies, and the common cold, among others.

4. Li-4 (Large intestine-4)

Located in the hand between the thumb and index finger, at the highest point of the muscle when you squeeze the thumb and index finger together.

Li-4 treats everything happening in the face area, including allergies, TMJ, Bell’s Palsy, etc.

This point is contraindicated during pregnancy.

5. LV-3 (Liver-3)

Located at the top of the foot, about an inch from the web between the big toe and the second toe.

LV-3 is great for stress, anger, fertility, and menstrual problems.

Let’s say goodbye to headaches!
